Ready, set, Go....

So here we go again.....

I enrolled yesterday at the University of Bedfordshire, I am a student once more.

I intend to teach Photography and Art at A-level and have been working at my old school one day a week with the sixth formers, the buzz I get from teaching is similar to that I get when uploading images I've just photographed.

I love the inspired look I get from a student when we've discussed their ideas, it reminds me of how I used to feel at college when starting a new project.....  I almost feel envy when the students get given their project briefs and have once or twice considered completing one at home for fun....As with most things in life I wish I knew then what I do now, as my A-levels were not a success and it frustrates me to no end that I didn't take every opportunity I was given through my education as I understand now just how important it is.

Obviously I have considered the negatives of teaching, like when your half through explaining a lessons objectives and a black biro comes hurling towards your fore-head and after turning bright red the only thing you can manage is an outraged and shaky "GET OUT!!!!" Then after calming down you approach the student in the corridor to explain that throwing pens is rather silly behavior to just be told "Miss, your mums being silly" at this point my only suggestion is to turn around, walk into the office and scream!!!!

My decision to take up teaching, has not affected my plans to carrying on freelancing, having now done a few favours for friends and family I have had my first professional shoots, with weddings, and family portraits etc sooooo Fingers crossed my new career path will finally enable me to give up those dreaded extra shifts I have to do at Pizza Hut....... I would rather inspire a nation than fatten it!!!
